Dear readers,
Today, I invite you to be listeners. I gave the pleasure to share a demo for a new musical piece.
As you have read before, I recently had an "atmospheric" experience, in a modern ruin, both urban and lost into the local pine trees (see the previous post : Unexpected encounter with a modern ruin)
I thus invite you for a little experience, under the sound of cicada, quite specific of the local summer.
You've probably noticed its title : Babel #7
There has been Babel #1, already online, as well as Babel #2 (with a first demo, which will evolve quite significantly), and I'm currently working over intermediary titles, up to the seventh.
Why "Babel" ?
This word symbolizes, to my ears, the cultural melting pot, as well as all the ways to speak, behave and just live in the whole world. Marseille, just like a few other cities, personifies this melting pot, and I truly enjoy it. But, apart from the city life and its inhabitants, it also concerns all surrounding atmospheres : the sea shore, the woods, the beach and those little village squares which one can still find in the southern area of this city. Those are as many opportunities and chances to let oneself carry away in their specific and complementary energies.
I hope, if Life allows me to do so, to deploy my personal energy at the service of those atmospheres. It will take time, but in the end, I do hope to deliver a suite of musical pieces, which name you've obviously guessed.
Why sharing a demo ?
Today, I put a demo of this musical piece online. It is like a draft (version 0), which allows to check it the principles of this piece work out fine (or not), with its general structure, themes, dynamics, echoes from one guitar to the other and relations between the parts.
Naturally, and I admit it openly, this draft recording is full of imperfections, but, in a way, that's quite the point.
Of course, it's not about voluntarily spoiling it, but rather to do things as efficiently as possible, in order to build the piece as a whole, in an "ok" version. Thanks to this early completion, it will possible to reflect, think, try new things out, up to the final "polished" version.
Therefore, I thank you in advance for accepting all the defects (most notably the performance itself), but also for your own impressions, which will be very valuable for the final version or it. The more reviews you give me, the better.
Anyway, having worked on my fucking ego, and considering that this music is actually detached from myself (I serve it, if you will), you can tell me your truth. For instance, if a certain part of theme seems out of place, to your ear, please tell me. Of course, if another part suits you, I'd also be glad to hear about it.
No more words : let's hear it !
With all my thanks ;
V.
PS : I drop a video, which is only the premises of a future music video. For the time being, it serves mostly as an excuse to let you visualize this quite magical place.
Tomorrow (which is to say next year, after another summer), this video will be developed, with the two guitars in situation, in the middle of this weathered concrete.

I like the lazy southern atmosphere and the ambiance of free creativity in this abandoned facility. The zoom out in the archway is ingenious! Would be great to see some of the drone footage as well.
Thanks Bjørn ;
Yes indeed ! That’s a good idea !
I’ve thought about it and asked for a contact of one of them. Now is th good time to and hopefully convince him to share some of it.
Bonjour Thomas.
Merci doublement, donc 🙂
